Paint on the coast lives a hard life. Salt spray, humidity, blowing sand and unfiltered sun work on a finish from every direction, and mildew gets under a coat that went on over a dirty wall. So an S&S exterior always starts with the pressure washer: the whole envelope comes clean first, then we scrape and sand what is failing, caulk and seal the gaps, prime the bare spots and lay on coats chosen to hold their color out here. Siding, shakes, stucco, brick, soffits, fascia, trim, porch ceilings, railings, pilings and stairs, on beach houses, year-round homes and storefronts.

Coastal North Carolina is hard on a house. Salt air, humidity and shade grow mildew on siding and green on concrete, and paint laid over any of that fails inside a season. So we do both halves ourselves: soft-wash the surface down until it is actually clean, let it dry, then prep and paint it. No coordinating two outfits, no arguing about whose prep failed. Home base is Old Folkstone Road, the stretch running between Holly Ridge and Sneads Ferry, so the island is a short trip either way.
